PRE-PROFESSIONAL HUMAN SERVICES PRE-PROFESSIONAL MORTUARY SCIENCE Mortuary science is the study of deceased bodies through mortuary work. This program will prepare you for a career that cares for the dead and comforts the living. If you take this program, you will work as a mortician, embalmer, or funeral director. Mortuary science includes studies in chemistry, biology, science, and embalming. Funeral directors are responsible for the day-to-day management of funeral homes. They work with staff and the family of the deceased to plan and implement the funeral service and burial. Morticians must be licensed in their state in order to work in their profession. It is important that you contact the college or university to which you anticipate transferring credits to assure that core courses will transfer appropriately into your major.
