This 2 week course is intended to prepare individuals for entry-level work in the road construction industry. Participants will learn basic equipment terminology, operational techniques, and applications for forklift, skid steer, and mini excavator, using simulators and actual equipment. Basic operation includes prestart checks and inspection of structural hardware, powertrain, hydraulic and electrical systems and controls. Additional topics include: career opportunities, sustainability practices, flagger training, load securement and containment. Participants will also learn job readiness skills including: OSHA 10-hour for Construction, CPR & First Aid, and interpersonal skills to work as a team member.
Tuition assistance is available to qualifying students based on income guidelines.
