Intro to Watercolor Painting


Get your feet wet (and your paper) with this fun, introduction to watercolor painting. Learn, explore and practice basic techniques such as wet in wet, flat and graded washes, color mixing and lifting/erasing while creating a variety of small paintings. You will also learn how to choose the correct paper, brushes and paints to ensure success as you begin your watercolor, journey. All techniques will be demonstrated. Class size is kept to a minimum to ensure individual attention for all students. This class is perfect for anyone who has thought about doing watercolor but doesn’t know where or how to start. All materials are provided. However, if you do have watercolor supplies, please feel free to bring them to class. Optional: A limited supply of paper, paints and brushes will be available for purchase. Come join us as we plunge into the beautiful medium of watercolor. Fee includes $20 for all the supplies needed. 2 Sessions.

Instructor: Judy Thompson
Thompson is an award winning artist and signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society. She has been an Artist-in-Residence with the National Park Service and is an approved teaching artist with the South Dakota Art Council. Her winsome and engaging style makes her a popular instructor.
