The Applied Science and Technology program builds upon two-year technology programs at NCC including Design Technology, Industrial Instrumentation & Control and Electrical Technology.
This unique program bridges the gap between production and engineering by creating a welldefined graduate who has working/practical knowledge in a variety of areas such as: machining, computer aided drafting, electrical, electronic and computer based controls. Working within a team an Engineering Technologist takes a project from concept to completion. They will be a part of every aspect of the project from conception, drawing, creating a prototype, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting an engineer’s project plans. This is a unique 2+2 cooperative program with Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The portion of the program taken at Dordt College enhances individual skills with teamwork and communication skills. You will be challenged to deal with social, cultural, environmental, and aesthetic issues as well as technical and economic factors in the solution of technical problems. Technical skills will be enhanced as you work on creative projects side-by-side with engineering students.

Engineering Technology graduates have a wide range of employment opportunities after graduation. Through partnerships with area industries, Dordt and NCC have expanded learning opportunities and will provide graduates the educational back-ground necessary for employment in today’s automated industries. Employment opportunities range from technicians to production and maintenance managers and supervisors.

A wage range of $19–$22/hour is likely.

This program allows you to obtain your bachelor’s degree through an agreement with Dordt College. The AAS degree earned at NCC combined with 2 years of liberal arts instruction at Dordt will provide employers the well-rounded applicants that were not readily available prior to this collaborative initiative and degree offering.
