As an educator, you are able to assist students in discovering a career pathway that encourages them to reach their goals and ambitions. NCC’s Workplace Learning Connection can connect you to businesses through work-based careers.

NCC’s Workplace Learning Connection career exploration activities will expand your industry knowledge by providing time at a work site that is directly related to your discipline. This opportunity will provide real world like practices that you will be able to take back to your classroom and incorporate into your daily curriculum. You can help students understand the purpose of the learning in school and how it relates to the workforce. Showing your students the relevance of classroom activities and the relationship between work and classroom helps them stay focused and encourages them to do their best.

These career exploration activities may be completed through a worksite tour and/or an educator externship at an area business.

Educator Worksite Tour:
Educators participate in work site visits as individuals or in a small group. Tours provide an opportunity to interact with businesses, learn about their organization, career opportunities, education requirements, employability skills, and obtain firsthand experience at the work site.

Educator Externship:
Educators will expand their business and industry knowledge by spending time at a work site directly related to their discipline. They will obtain knowledge and experience they can take back to the classroom. - Assessment Tool (link to click on to complete)
