hands-on learning We hear it over and over again when we talk to our students, “I like hands-on learning.” Well dude – we have it! We have some of the best state-of-the-art labs. That means you will be learning, many times, in labs that are as good or better than what you find in industry. Did you read that? Read it again (it’s worth it) – some are better than industry! In fact, because of the technology we have on campus many of our technical programs have developed transfer agreements with 4 year colleges and universities. They want their students to be exposed to the high quality hands-on training that we offer at NCC! Hands-on isn’t only in our labs, but in our traditional classrooms, as well. Our business classes built trebuchets (ok, that’s a fancy word you use in college. It means catapults) to see how far they could chuck pumpkins. And they built and manned a Zombie Obstacle Course. Zombies! — how cool is that!?! Or, for something a little more serious, we talk a lot about service learning at NCC. For example, our Accounting, Secretarial, and Health Information Tech students have staffed our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site for the last twelve years. Working together they provide free income tax filing assistance for people with low and limited income, individuals with disabilities, non-English speakers and elderly taxpayers. A lot of our programs stress giving back to the community. We think it is part of becoming a good citizen. Take the first step and learn to be a part of your community: say yes to the volunteer challenge! agrees Top 150 Best community colleges in the nation 3 years in a row #down&dirty #electrifying #betterthanthebest #thelabsarefab #learningthruthehands #notjustbooks
