Northwest Iowa Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Programs approved by the Iowa Department of Education meet or exceed HLC standards. Our most recent self-study was reviewed and approved in March 2025, focusing on five key areas:

NC-SARA

Northwest Iowa Community College has been approved by the state of Iowa to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is an agreement among member states that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education courses and programs. The agreement makes it easier for students to take online courses offered by postsecondary institutions based in another state. NACEP

In 2012, Northwest Iowa Community College received accreditation and certification for our concurrent enrollment programs from the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).

• Radiologic Technology: Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
• Pharmacy Tech: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized
• Paraeducator Certification: The Iowa Department of Education, Licensure Bureau
• Paramedic Program: The Northwest Iowa Community College Paramedics program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This letter is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, it is a status signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the National Registry’s Paramedic credentialing examination(s). However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.
