Adult Education and Literacy

Our Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) department offers free classes in:

  • High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) Preparation (formerly known as the GED)

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

NCC’s FREE HSED Preparation Classes

HSED stands for High School Equivalency Diploma.

Students in Iowa study for and take the HiSET test, developed by ETS, to earn Iowa’s HSED.


HSED ORIENTATIONS

High School Equivalency Diploma orientations are held five times a year on NCC’s campus at 9am and 5pm. The 2022 orientation dates are:

  • January 19
  • March 30
  • June 8
  • August 17
  • October 26

NCC’s FREE ESL CLASSES

Are you or someone you know interested in improving your English speaking, writing or reading skills? Or would you like to earn your High School Equivalent Diploma formerly known as a “GED”? NCC offers free classes for English language learners and preparation for the High School Equivalency Diploma Students should call 712-324-5061 ext 332 or email adultliteracy@nwicc.edu and register for one of the orientations.

¿Usted o alguien a quien usted conoce está interesado en mejorar sus habilidades de hablar, escribir o leer en Inglés? O ¿Le gustaría obtener su Diploma Equivalente a la Preparatoria conocido anteriormente como “GED”? NCC ofrece clases gratis para estudiantes aprendices del idioma Inglés y preparación del Diploma Equivalente.  Los estudiantes deberán llamar 712-324-5061 ext 332 o correo electrónico adultliteracy@nwicc.edu y registrarse para una de las orientaciones.
