Janet Boone, Instructor – Administrative Office Assistant/Administrative Office Management Programs will be retiring from Northwest Iowa Community College May 14, 2021. Boone has been with NCC for almost 31 years – since August 1, 1990.
Boone began her career at NCC as the Administrative Assistant to the President and Recording Secretary to the Board of Trustees. She served in that position for 13 years. During that time she was also a Part-Time Instructor for Microsoft Office Software Classes both in local communities and the business and industry sector.
In 2003 she was hired as Full time Faculty in the Arts & Science, Business and Health Division. Courses she taught included: Introduction to Microsoft Office Applications; Advanced Microsoft Office Applications; Keyboarding; Office Procedures and Technology I; Office Procedures and Technology II; Proofreading and Editing; Office Internship I; Office Seminar; Administrative Office Management; Business Communications; and Oral Communications.
Boone is an alumna of NCC earning her Associate of Arts degree with a 4.0 GPA. She continued her education at Bellevue University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Information Management also with a 4.0 GPA. Boone advanced her education further to become a Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor and Microsoft Certified Trainer.
Boone commented, “I have enjoyed educating, training and empowering students to become Future Ready in the 21st Century Workforce.”
Boone’s plans for retirement, “As a lifelong learner, Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor, and Microsoft Certified Trainer, I am passionate about all things related to Microsoft Office software applications. I truly love the interaction with students in the classroom as well as training adult learners in the business sector. I hope that I will be able to seize another opportunity to apply my skills, to share my expertise with others and ultimately capture my Dream Job!”
