Dee Kreykes, Assistant to the President & Board Secretary, will be retiring from Northwest Iowa Community College on Friday, June 29, 2018. Kreykes has been with NCC for over 14 years, since April 19, 2004.
Kreykes stayed at home with her children for many years and worked part-time while her kids were in school. In 1997, she began working at Koele & Chickering Accounting as the receptionist and also had accounting duties as well. She started as Board Recording Secretary and Assistant at NCC on April 19, 2004. In 2006, she was promoted to Assistant to the Vice President of Operations and Finance. In 2011 she advanced to Assistant to the President and Board Secretary.
While at NCC, Kreykes was awarded the NCC Outstanding Employee of the Year in December 2016.
Kreykes commented, “It’s been a privilege to work with our Board of Trustees during my entire time at NCC; and I am grateful for the opportunity to be an Assistant to our current President, Dr. Stubbe for more than half of my time at NCC. What a great group of men and women we have serving on our Board and leading NCC!”
Kreykes said, “My favorite moments at NCC are the day I was hired to work here and a more recent highlight is passing the 2018 Bond Referendum. NCC is a great institution that has received many outstanding awards nationally and locally; but to pass the bond with almost 74% of our 4 ½ counties standing in support, feels like an award from our closest friends and family. That was a great day for NCC and our communities!”
Kreykes continued, “I have spent 14 years here at NCC and have loved working here. It has a lot to do with the great people that work here – we become family. I wish the best for all of my colleagues and for NCC.”
Kreykes’ plans for retirement include, “Traveling and spending time with our kids and grandkids. I also plan to become reacquainted with my sewing machine.”
