Dr. Jan Snyder to Retire from NCC

Dr. Jan Snyder, Vice President – Institutional Advancement and External Affairs, a dedicated leader of Northwest Iowa Community College will be retiring on Friday, June 29, 2018.

Snyder has served in a variety of roles during her tenure at NCC beginning as an Adjunct Instructor in 1993, part-time Coordinator of Community Relations in 1995 and Executive Director of the NCC Foundation/Coordinator of Community Relations in 1996. She was named Vice President of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs in 2003.

Snyder has displayed her love for lifelong learning, earning her Master of Science Degree in Training and Development from Drake University in 2000, a Ph.D in Educational Leadership from Iowa State University in 2005, and obtained her Registered Yoga Teacher Certification (RYT200) in 2012, and an ISU Master Gardener certificate as recently as 2017.

As Executive Director of the Foundation, she has actively solicited contributions and led four successful Foundation campaigns, taking the total Foundation assets in 1995 from $172,130 to $6.5 million in April 2018.

She has also advocated for student success working with non-profits, business/industry and individuals to establish many scholarships – 467 scholarships totaling $393,439 were awarded in 2017.

Snyder has been a member of the Higher Learning Commission Peer Review Corps since 2007.

Snyder commented, “I am looking forward to the new chapters in my life’s journey which will include more time with family and friends, travel, yoga/fitness, gardening, reading and higher education consulting.”
