The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requires that all Surface Miners and Surface Mining Contractors complete a minimum of 8 hours of Annual Refresher training per year. This Annual Refresher training covers topics relevant to current mining operations, as well as changes that could affect a miner’s health or safety. This course presents an overview of the annual refresher training of miners for MSHA Part 48A training requirements. It will cover basic mining regulations for underground metal, non-metal, and coal mines as well as surface areas of underground metal, non-metal, and coal mines. In addition, the course covers how to recognize and avoid hazards inherent to mines, emergency response procedures, and miner’s rights and responsibilities.
