Northwest Iowa Community College will be offering two NCC Certificate courses for Welding and Machining March 10 – May 28. These courses are designed to provide you with the skills necessary to qualify for an entry-level position in our local area or advance you in your current position. *FREE tuition assistance is available to those who qualify. All classes will be held at NCC in the evening. There is a limited number of spaces available in each certificate course.
NCC Welding Certificate, March 10-April 9
This 40 hour NCC Welding Certificate course covers the theory, fundamentals, equipment, and techniques of welding. You will learn about all major welding and cutting processes used in production and repair, in addition to information on reading welding symbols, inspecting and testing welds, and getting a job in the welding industry or advancing your career. This course will also include instruction in employability skills, such as writing resumes and interviewing in the industry.
NCC Machining Certificate, April 14-May 28
This 52 hour NCC Machining Certificate will help prepare you for an entry-level position as a CNC machine operator or general machinist. During the program you will gain knowledge and hands-on skills in CNC programing, machine set-up and operation basics. Topics covered include: machining basics, coordinate systems, part identification, tool paths, coding/programming, and proper tool setup. This course will also include instruction in employability skills, such as writing resumes and interviewing in the industry.
A high school diploma is not required to take this class. English Language Learners are encouraged to attend. Free math, vocabulary, language, and learning support will be available. Employment assistance and a Job Fair with local employment opportunities will be held at the completion of the course.
You must attend the informational meeting on Monday, February 24 at 6pm in room C328 Building C to be eligible for this opportunity. Free pizza will be served to those who attend.
