SUPERVISOR: Healthcare Career Pathways Navigator

BASIC FUNCTION: This contracted, adjunct-position includes classroom (both face-to-face and online) instruction, and lab and clinical instruction. Flexible hours.

Required – Associate Degree in Nursing
Active Iowa Nursing License
Two years of nursing experience, at least one year of which must be in the provision of long term care facility services
Basic computer skills
Valid Driver’s License

Preferred – Two years of college level teaching experience.
Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.
Copies of all academic transcripts are required. Unofficial copies are acceptable at the time of application. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, a complete set of original transcripts will be required.

1.Broad knowledge of nursing at the CNA level with a solid grasp of applications in various healthcare settings.
2.Ability to work with a wide range of students in the classroom, lab, online, and clinical settings.
3.Ability to provide effective instruction across the entire curriculum core to a broad spectrum of traditional and nontraditional students.
4.Ability to teach at a variety of locations.
5.Understanding of and agreement with the philosophy, conceptual framework, and learning outcomes of the NCC program.
6.Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.

1.Conduct necessary instruction with area high schools or on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College.
2.Conduct effective instruction in all assigned areas, using approved course outlines.
3.Provide students written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy,methods of evaluation, and grading practices.
4.Measure and evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade computations. Submit grade reports to supervisor according to designated timelines.
5.Motivate students and encourage them to achieve to the best of their ability.
6.Stress to all students the maintenance of safety measures and assure that the students follow all policies/procedures mandated by the clinical facility/physicians thereby providing a clinically safe environment for each client assigned to the student care.
7.Relate well and interact with students, faculty, administration, and the general public.
8.Rotate to different clinical areas, as assigned.
9.Enforce all Northwest Iowa Community College student policies.
10.Notify the Healthcare Career Pathways Navigator as early as possible of inability to meet a class.
11.Attend all required meetings.
12.Complete professional development activities as required by the State of Iowa.
13.Other duties as directed by the Healthcare Career Pathways Navigator.

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $29.00/hr, plus mileage for travel to and from the teaching site.
