At Landus, you will learn and work alongside experienced, empowered, innovative employees to gain experience in specialty areas within the automation and network domains.  During the internship, you will also work on actual projects finding positive solutions!  Come join our team as an Automation Engineer Intern!

 

What will you learn?

  • Learn how PLCs and applications for Grain, and Agronomy reduce labor work load and increase accuracy.
  • Learn how to upgrade firmware.
  • Modify PLC programs to achieve desired results.
  • Learn what it takes to troubleshoot PLC faults.
  • Help with planning a PLC upgrade.
  • Analyze problems and determine a resolution.
  • Learn about local networks including fiber optic, copper based ethernet and wireless.
  • Install LAN upgrades and security measures.
  • Understand the difference between vendors working in support of Business Units.
  • Help document network, equipment, logic controllers, and software applications including complex electrical drawings as needed.
  • Work with local electricians to learn about code requirements.
  • Learn what training requirements are and how different the user base is.
  • Understand why inventory and backups of automation equipment are important.
  • Learn what is required to build an Automation PC for HMI use.

The ideal student will have:

  • Currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year post-secondary program, preferably Industrial Technologies, PLC and Robotics, Agricultural Engineering, Computer or Electrical Engineering,
  • Industrial or Commercial Electrician with and interest in PLCs.
    Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to move/lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Be able to climb heights in excess of 100 feet, or more than 6 feet below grade.
