Job Description/Role:

As a Machine Shop Assistant/Materials Handler for Rome Grinding Solutions, you will focus on the organization, storage, and cleanliness of the machine shop. You will work directly with the Machining Supervisor to ensure that the machines and work areas are  Through clear communication you will help ensure a continuous and efficient production schedule for Rome and their production teams. 

Hours would be: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM -3:30 PM


-Assist Machining team with the loading and unloading of parts in machines

-Assist in Machining when necessary and/or per the Machining Supervisor’s request

-Ensure metal shavings/scraps are deposited in the correct bins for pick up

-Assist with the maintenance of Rome buildings, equipment, and machines

-Regular cleaning of machining area and machines

-Adhere to all safety, industry, and legal rules, regulations, standards

-Wear protective gear: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes/boots, earplugs, etc.

-Assist with loading and unloading trucks/deliveries if needed

-Help with organizing shipping/receiving area if needed

-Ensure raw materials are stored in proper “bins” as requested

-Provide back-up for cutting raw materials to spec for upcoming work orders

-Regular, on-time attendance

-Other duties as assigned

-High School degree or equivalent

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-High level attention to detail

-Reliable and committed

-Ability to be standing, bending, walking for majority of the day

-Knowledge of basic math

-Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Google Docs, etc.)

-Building (working with tools and machines, making, or fixing things), Organizing (working with information and processes, orderly systems)

-Ability to lift up to 75lbs

-Forklift Certified, willing to train

Job Type: Full-time Hourly

Salary: Entry level position: Starting at $16.00/hour. We could be flexible with pay based on previous experience.
