Description: Work in cooperation with sales to design and draw equipment and systems to meet customer requirements. This is done under the oversight of the Engineering Manager.
Work with the Engineering Manager and Service Department to interpret project requirements, determining if the project is technically feasible and fits within the scope and capability of our core business. Preparation of manufacturing release documents for the shop which includes drawings, bills of materials, etc. Following projects through manufacturing/assembly/testing to ensure equipment is built per customer specifications.
Problem solving to anticipate and address issues and challenges to keep projects on-track.
Occasional travel to job sites in cooperation with sales to review and verify equipment suitability. Coordinate internal and external resources needed for successful project execution. Support manufacturing and service department on assigned projects to ensure project success. This includes initiation of progressive billing on projects as required and making sure testing materials are onsite for shop startup. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Report and escalate issues to management as needed.
Education, Experience, Skills/Abilities: Degree/Diploma in Industrial Design, Industrial Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience. Metal fabrication, equipment production, equipment design/engineering/drafting, technical trades, industrial automation, project management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Solid computer skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Solid Works. Ability to read, interpret/comprehend and create blueprints. Ability to comprehend written and verbal specifications. Understanding of steel fabrication: cutting, forming, machining, welding. Understanding of principles of equipment design/engineering. Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and multi-tasking. Ability to take ideas from concept to completion. Must work well in a team environment.
