Vander Haag’s is currently accepting applications for an individual who is passionate about teaching and developing others as a Technical Trainer.  The Technical Trainer is responsible for preparing, conducting, and evaluating technical training programs for technicians across all Vander Haag’s, Inc. locations.  They develop materials to be used in the training and designs exercises for application.  This position regularly leads classes in both in-person and virtual settings.

General responsibilities:

  • Prepares & conducts technical training programs and competency based classes.
  • Works closely with Department Leaders and Department Managers to identify training needs and certification requirements.
  • Administers & tracks technical certification and licensing of technicians.
  • Plans, schedules, and directs training sessions as needed.
  • Assists and supports VHI technician recruitment efforts.
  • Promotes and encourages all technical training opportunities (e.g., ASE Certification training).
  • Assists Department Leads to ensure an efficient and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred (two year or four year).
  • At least 5 years of previous technician experience.
  • Prior training/teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with a wide range of internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with various computer-based programs to record & develop training

Travel:  Some travel will be required to various VHI locations on an as needed basis.  Travel requirements estimated to be less than 10%.

Compensation:  This is an overtime exempt (salaried) position.  Compensation will be dependent upon prior experience and qualifications.

Hours:  Work hours will generally mirror our business operational hours (7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, M-F).  However, occasional adjustments to the work schedule may be necessary while developing and conducting training.
