Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) announces the selection of Leah Murphy as the Executive Dean of Student and Academic Services. Murphy officially assumed her new role on August 1st, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing the College’s academic mission.
Leah Murphy’s journey with NCC began in 2016 when she joined as the Director of the Learning Center, Alternative High School, and Accommodations. Her dedication and contributions led to her appointment as the Director of the Academic Center in 2017, followed by her role as the Dean of Arts & Sciences/Business & Health in 2021. Throughout her tenure, Murphy has exhibited an unwavering passion for academic excellence, innovation, and student success.
The NCC Board wholeheartedly endorsed Murphy’s appointment on August 21, during a regularly scheduled board meeting. This decision reflects the board’s confidence in her ability to drive positive change and steer the college towards a future of growth and progress.
Murphy said, “I am honored and excited to continue with the NCC team in a new role as the Chief Academic Officer. NCC has a remarkable reputation for success and service for all, and I am eager to work closely with the talented individuals who build upon these values daily. NCC continues to strive to grow in order to serve Northwest Iowa, and I am humbled to help give opportunities to our communities, students, and partners.”

Murphy resides in Sheldon with her husband Michael and children Lynn, Anthony, Maggie.
