NCC Announces Registration for “Introduction to Manufacturing” Certificate Program

Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) announces that registration is now open for its “Introduction to Manufacturing” program starting January 30, 2024. This unique program offers students a valuable opportunity to embark on a career in manufacturing, with specialized training in either machining or welding.

The non-credit certificate program, conducted on the NCC campus, will meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4 PM to 7 PM. Designed to build a strong foundation in manufacturing basics, the program then allows students to specialize in either Basic Machining or Basic Welding. This program is meant for both beginners (at least 17 years old) and those looking to enhance their skills, the program paves the way for a successful career in manufacturing.

Program Details:

  • Initial training includes topics on materials, shop math, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.
  • Specializations offered:
    • Basic Machining: Covers Introduction to Machining, Cartesian Coordinate System, CNC, G-Codes, and Mill and Lathe Setup.
    • Basic Welding: Focuses on Welding Safety, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW.

Financial Assistance:

  • The program is priced at $3,600, with free tuition available for qualifying students.
  • GAP financial assistance is accessible to eligible job seekers, including unemployed, underemployed, and dislocated workers who live in Iowa.
