NCC Honors Foundation Board Members for their Service

Kevin Ten Haken and Amanda Bahena, outgoing foundation board members, were honored for their years of service and commitment to the Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation Board during its annual meeting, held on January 30, 2023.  Both members completed 3 – three-year terms on the board.

Ten Haken served as a member representing the Boyden-Hull school district beginning in 2014. Throughout this time with the board, he served in both the vice-president and the president capacity. Ten Haken was active with multiple major fundraising campaigns, was instrumental in the passing of the General Obligation Bond in 2018, and has been involved in many scholarship functions, including applicant review and fundraising.
Ten Haken has also been very instrumental in the long-term plans for manufacturing education enhancements at NCC.

Bahena also began her service on the NCC Foundation Board in 2014, representing the Sioux Center Community School District. She has been involved in multiple major fundraising campaigns, the passing of the General Obligation Bond in 2018, as well as enhancing scholarship opportunities for current and prospective students. Bahena was very instrumental in providing opportunities and programming to promote diversity at NCC.

Kristi Landis, Director of College Advancement at Northwest Iowa Community College stated, “Both Kevin and Amanda have been tremendous assets to our board over the past nine years. They both made our board and our institution better due to their insight and volunteerism. We hope NCC will continue to hold a special place in their hearts.”

The NCC Foundation Board is comprised of eighteen members, fourteen of whom represent each public-school district in NCC’s service territory, two members from the NCC Board of Trustees, and multiple retired NCC Presidents. The mission of the Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation is to attract and manage financial resources, enhance awareness of the College, and to support access to lifelong learning opportunities.
