NCC Hosts NW Iowa Visual Arts Show

Northwest Iowa Community College is hosting the NW Iowa Visual Arts Show April 24 – 30, 2019.  This event is open to the public during regular campus hours in rooms A114 – 119. The exhibit will conclude with a Visual Arts Invitational and Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 30,
at 1:00pm.

Each student can submit two works of art up to a total of thirty pieces per school. All submitted artwork is original and executed by individual artists. There are three categories for submissions: Painting/Drawing, Photography/Digital Media, and Sculpture/3D.

On Tuesday, April 30, all students participating in the show are invited to the Visual Arts Invitational and Award Ceremony. While on campus, students will have the opportunity to visit the gallery and participate in three sessions with one being a hands-on activity.

First, second, and third place awards will be given in each category, with honorable mentions awarded at the judge’s discretion. Two overall awards will also be given: A Best of Show award, chosen by art teachers, and a Students’ Choice award, as voted on by participating art students.

The following northwest Iowa high schools have been invited to participate: Boyden-Hull,
MMC-RU, MOC-Floyd Valley, Okoboji, Remsen St. Mary’s, Rock Valley, Sheldon, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sioux Center, South O’Brien, Trinity Christian, West Lyon, West Sioux, and Western Christian. This event will be hosted alongside Northwest Iowa Community College’s Student Visual Arts Show.
