NCC Sports Shooting Team Competes at Iowa SCTP Community College Championships

The NCC Thunder Sports Shooting Team competed at the Iowa SCTP Community College Championships in Cedar Falls, IA on April 23-24, 2022.

“Even though the conditions were far from ideal over the weekend, our NCC student-athletes represented the College with pride. The athletes remained positive, giving support to their teammates. You can tell that they truly enjoy the opportunity they were given to compete for NCC. Several of our student-athletes had perfect rounds throughout the weekend, and it was good to be together and competing again,” said Brian Lauck, NCC Sports Shooting Head Coach

Trap Shooting Competition Results (April 23)

NCC took 6th place with a score of 952 (10 Iowa Community Colleges competed over the weekend)
The top 5 scores for NCC student-athletes in the Trap competition:

  1. Cody Wintz, Milford, IA – 194
  2. Alex Wilson, Lu Verne, IA – 193
  3. Levi Hemmelrick, Akron, IA – 192
  4. Sebastian Brock, Mason City, IA – 189
  5. Bryn Jones, Independence, IA – 184

Cody Wintz placed 12th in Trap Shooting out of 105 student-athletes.

Alex Wilson placed 17th in Trap Shooting out of 105 student-athletes.

Levi Hemmelrick placed 30th in Trap Shooting out of 105 student-athletes.

Sebastian Brock placed 45th in Trap Shooting out of 105 student-athletes.

Iowa Western took 1st place with a score of 978.

Skeet Shooting Competition Results (April 24)

NCC took 6th place with a score of 364.

The top 5 scores for NCC student-athletes in the Skeet competition:

  1. Levi Hemmelrick, Akron, IA – 86
  2. Krayton Shever, Pierson, IA – 80
  3. Dalton Popkes, Ellsworth, MN – 72
  4. Samuel Freitag, Hawkeye, IA – 64
  5. Corwin Mosier, Galena, IL – 62

Levi Hemmelrick placed 30th in Skeet out of 59 student-athletes competing in that discipline.

Iowa Western took 1st place with a score of 487.

Sporting Clays Competition Results (April 24)

NCC took 6th place with a score of 191.

The top 3 scores for NCC student-athletes in the Sporting Clays competition:

1.   Levi Hemmelrick, Akron, IA – 68
2.   Sebastian Brock, Mason City, IA – 63
3.   Samuel Freitag, Hawkeye, IA – 60

Levi Hemmelrick placed 18th out of 62 student-athletes competing in that discipline.

Iowa Western took 1st place with a score of 227.
