NCC Women’s Soccer Team Proudly Welcomes Sophia Schwappach

NCC is thrilled to announce the newest addition to its women’s soccer team: Sophia Schwappach. Hailing from Cambridge, MN, Sophia brings a blend of athleticism, dedication, and enthusiasm to the Thunder roster.

Sophia’s decision to join NCC was driven by her passion for both nursing and soccer. She shares, “I chose NCC because of the nursing program and the ability to play college soccer.” With a lifelong dream of entering the medical field, Sophia found the nursing program at NCC to be the perfect fit.

One aspect of the nursing program that stood out to Sophia is the hands-on experiences offered by NCC. She looks forward to immersing herself in these practical learning opportunities, which will undoubtedly enhance her education and future career prospects. Sophia also admires NCC’s nursing building and its state-of-the-art facilities. She appreciates the resources available to students, which will aid in her academic journey.

Receiving a scholarship to play women’s soccer at NCC was a significant benefit for Sophia. She expresses her excitement, stating, “I am looking forward to using this scholarship toward my education.”

Sophia’s soccer journey began in high school, where she played as a left wing. She continued her athletic pursuits in club soccer with the Cambridge Isanti Soccer Club, further honing her skills on the field.

Joining Team Thunder fills Sophia with excitement as she looks forward to playing alongside her new teammates and making lasting connections. She shares, “I’m very excited to start playing and to meet other people.”

One of the things Sophia is most anticipating is traveling with her teammates, fostering camaraderie and shared experiences both on and off the field.

Coach Tre Thomas is confident that Sophia will make a significant impact on the team. He states, “Sophia will be a great addition to the program! She is an athletic winger that I’m hopeful will bring plenty of goals and assists for the season! She is an outgoing person that will bring a good light for the program and represent our culture in the best way possible!”
