NCC’s Automotive Program Ranked Top 20 Nationally by Tomorrow’s Tech 2023 School of the Year Contest

Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) proudly announces that its Automotive & Light Duty Diesel Program has been voted into the top 20 automotive programs in the nation by Tomorrow’s Tech2023 School of the Year Contest. This prestigious recognition, sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts and WIX Filters, celebrates NCC’s position as a leading institution in automotive education in the United States.

Chuck Ball, Automotive Instructor at NCC, reflected on the program’s history and its continuous evolution alongside industry advancements. “Established in 1966, our Automotive Program has not only won multiple awards but has also consistently adapted our curriculum to meet the changing needs of the industry. Being recognized by Tomorrow’s Technician, a publication that reaches over 1100 schools, is a significant affirmation of the quality education we provide to our students,” stated Ball.

The next stage in the contest involves a unique challenge where instructors and students from the top 20 schools, including NCC, are asked to create videos showcasing their automotive programs and learning environments. These videos will be made available on the Tomorrow’s Tech YouTube channel, offering a platform for each school to highlight its educational strengths. A panel of judges from Tomorrow’s Tech and WIX Filters will review these submissions to select the four regional finalists and, eventually, the winning school.

This honor not only underscores NCC’s commitment to excellence in automotive education but also provides an opportunity for the college to showcase its program on a national stage. The college eagerly anticipates the next steps in the contest and is excited to share its achievements and innovative teaching methods with a broader audience.

The members of the NCC Automotive & Light Duty Diesel Team are as follows: Chuck Ball, Instructor, Sheldon, IA; Mark Steinle, Instructor, Spirit Lake, IA; James Gaard, Instructor, Sheldon, IA; and Karri Spanjer, Parts/Service Store Associate, Sheldon, IA.
