Rod Borer to Retire From NCC

Rod Borer, College Store Coordinator will be retiring from Northwest Iowa Community College on May 31, 2018. Borer has been with NCC for almost 17 years, since August 27, 2001.

Borer began his retail career at Hy-Vee in Windom, MN and worked for Hy-Vee in Storm Lake, and Worthington, MN. In 1990 he purchased the grocery store in Little Rock, IA and in 1992 also purchased the grocery store in George, IA. He then started Little Rock Computers while he attended NCC for Computer Programming. He was offered the NCC College Store Coordinator position in 2001.

Borer commented, “Employees at NCC are a great bunch of people, working with them has been great. What I will miss the most after I leave NCC is the employees and students.” Borer continued, “I have been in retail my entire life and interacting with people has been my career. At NCC, I would see new students every fall and I got to know some of them very well.”

Borer said, “My favorite moment at NCC was when the new College Store opened. After drawing up the plans and working with designers for months, the store became a reality.”
Borer’s plans for retirement include, “Spending more time with family, traveling, camping, fishing in Minnesota in the summer and working in my wood shop in the winter. I will keep busy.”
