Rodger Retires from NCC

Doug Rodger, Director – Physical Facilities, Sheldon, retired from Northwest Iowa Community College on January 31, 2021. Rodger has been at NCC for over 10 years – since July, 2010.

He graduated from NCC with a Master’s License in HVAC, Hydronics, Refrigeration and Plumbing. He was the fourth generation to join his family’s Sheldon business, serving as president and owner of Rodger’s Plumbing & Heating, Inc., for 23 years.

Rodger served in the US Army and with the Iowa Army National Guard for over 24 years, deploying to two different combat theaters. Among his military awards are the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Meritorious Service Medal.

While at NCC, Rodger was awarded the Outstanding Support Staff Award from the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) Association in April 2014.

Rodger said, “My favorite moment at NCC was the day I was hired.” Rodger’s advice to his NCC coworkers is, “Always think win/win in every situation.”

His plans for retirement include, “Working in Iowa City managing the service department of a heating and cooling business.”
