Sandy Bruns to Retire from NCC

Sandy Bruns, Director of Human Resources, one of NCC’s longest serving employees will be retiring from Northwest Iowa Community College on Friday, June 29, 2018. Bruns has been with NCC for almost 42 years, since August 16, 1976.

Bruns began her career at Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar as the Secretary of Medical Records. She started at NCC in the Adult Education Division. She was promoted to Office Manager of College Services/Human Resources in January 1987. In February 2003 she was promoted again to Assistant Director of Human Resources/Office Manager of Administration. In January 2006 she advanced to her current position as the NCC Director of Human Resources.

While at NCC, Bruns was awarded the NCC Outstanding Employee of the Year in
1990-1991.

Bruns commented, “I have enjoyed so many good moments at NCC; but if I had to pick one, it would be the recent passing of the general obligation bond and the excitement that brings to the future of NCC.”

Bruns’ advice for her NCC coworkers, “Live every day as if it were tomorrow as you never know what tomorrow will bring.”

Bruns’ plans for retirement include camping and riding motorcycle during the summer and spending time with family.
