Troy Swancutt Powerline Scholarship Awarded

The Troy Swancutt Powerline Scholarship has been awarded to Tyler Justus, Muscatine. Tyler will be a student in the Powerline program at Northwest Iowa Community College this fall. This is a $500 scholarship.

This scholarship was established in honor of Troy Swancutt. He was 28 when he decided to go to power lineman school at NCC in Sheldon. Since graduating in 1990, he worked for Sanborn Power & Light, Interstate Power, and Alliant Energy. In 2020, his successful career was cut short at the age of 59 by a major heart attack. He was proud of his career and the base that Northwest Iowa Community College gave him to move up in his field. Troy’s family hopes this scholarship can motivate and help fund other non-traditional students’ educations in the power lineman program.
