Curious about keeping bees but not sure where to start? This free introductory session walks you through what a year in the bee-yard actually looks like. We’ll meet the members of a honey bee colony and see how each one keeps the hive running, then follow that colony through the seasons: spring inspections as the hive wakes up, the mating and reproduction that keep it going, summer checks at peak activity, and fall preparations that decide whether the bees make it through winter.
You’ll also learn how honey and other hive products are harvested, what it really costs to get started, and where to go next with beginner classes and local bee clubs. Bring your questions. Time is set aside at the end for a full Q&A.
