Director of the LLRC
Greta Giese is the Director of the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center. Not only does Greta guide the LLRC and oversees facility operations, but she is also the facilitator of all the spectacular things that happen at the LLRC. Creating a welcoming atmosphere is top priority, and Greta is confident the LLRC staff will make everyone feel welcomed and enjoy their time here. Greta enjoys spending time getting to know members, planning fun events, and growing the programming offered at the LLRC. She welcomes feedback and believes it is essential to know how our members want their facility run.
Greta graduated from Buena Vista University in 2006 majoring in Exercise Science with minors in Business and Coaching. From there she went on to the University of Northern Iowa and obtained a Master’s degree in Leisure Services. At UNI she taught undergraduate physical education courses as well as a variety of group fitness classes at the Wellness and Rec Center (WRC). From May 2008 to March 2011, she managed the Wellness Department at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley. Throughout the years she has been active in coaching youth athletics including time spent as a competitive swim coach, assistant volleyball coach, and track and field coach. Greta has been with NCC since the LLRC opened in 2011. In 2018 she earned her doctorate degree in Educational Administration – Adult and Higher Education at the University of South Dakota.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, yoga, and running.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the staff and students of NCC in their wellness and recreation pursuits. The support and enthusiasm of the community members and businesses in Sheldon is incredible, and I look forward to the great things we can accomplish together in this outstanding facility!”
